Why Vibratory Healing?

For many years I taught classes on the Reiki method of healing. Through the grace of God and through daily meditations, attempting to contact Him and attune to His will, this course on Vibratory Healing has come to replace the Reiki method, which I used to practice and teach.

The methods are very similar in ways but there are some vital differences – one being that the client and practitioner tend to have more passive roles in Reiki healing, whereas with Vibratory Healing methods, the very opposite is true – both parties are a vital part of the healing process.

I have come to understand that it takes great energy and magnetism to be a true healer (one who helps support the healing process of others). Paramhansa Yogananda says: “Healing depends on the power of the healer and the receptivity of the patient.”

I still feel that Reiki is a wonderful stepping stone on anyone's spiritual journey. I believe it is what prepared me for where I am now and I'm eternally grateful for the entire journey.

Some of the other key differences that I want to point out between Vibratory Healing and Reiki:

Lineage - It has never sat well with me that there is some level of hierarchy within the Reiki world. For those who have paid $10,000 for their training, there is a thought that they have the "real Reiki" and everyone else has the knock off.

Attunements - I've always given attunements with the thought that God is the one attuning the person and that the real attunement comes from the practitioner and receiver tuning in to the Divine.

Symbols - I think symbols hold the power we give them. Therefore, someone who holds the Reiki symbols sacred and uses them with reverence will have powerful results. However, I also believe that symbols like the cross and Aum are extremely effective - maybe more so for a person born and raised with them as symbols for the Divine.

Affirmations, Chanting, Prayer - These are not traditional aspects of Reiki, whereas they are essential parts of Vibratory Healing.

Paramhansa Yogananda - Vibratory Healing is based completely on the teachings of this great Indian master. My personal opinion is that Usui Sensei was a great man who brought a wonderful system of healing to the world. Paramhansa Yogananda is a God-realized soul who came to bring liberation and enlightenment to the world. The healing techniques he brought were ultimately for that purpose - the healing of soul ignorance.

So these are a few of my initial thoughts and my process behind switching from Reiki to Vibratory Healing. I feel very good about this change and hope you enjoy this system of healing as much as I do!

Cutting Cords & Cleansing Your Heart

Once I asked Swami Kriyananda, "How does one develop receptivity on the spiritual path?" His answer, I found, to be very helpful. He said, "Relax the heart and practice non-attachment." When we relax the tensions around the heart and let go of our desires and attachments, then we can be pure instruments for divine love. Or as Sri Yukteswar said, "the natural love of the heart" expresses itself and we live without fear and in true freedom.
We have a way, as humans, of becoming attached – attached to people, to things, to circumstances – you name it and it would seem we have the potential of becoming attached to it!

Especially when it comes to matters of the heart, we try to hold on to those people and situations which we associate with bringing us joy and happiness.
It is so easy to forget that love, happiness, and joy are right within us and we can (and should) experience these qualities at all times, no matter what the outer circumstance.

Attachments can manifest as little (or big) “strings” that go out from our hearts and connect to people, places, and things. It is so subtle at times that we probably won’t even notice it is happening. Yogananda said to make it a practice to “die daily”, that is to say, to empty ourselves of all desires and attachments and make ourselves a perfect “temple” for the Divine Light to shine through us.

One amazing practice that I try to remember to do every day (and when I don’t, I do notice a difference) is to cut these cords that bind my heart. Our minds are so powerful, a simple visualization can do the trick for cutting cords and making our heart chakras bright and beautiful. The visualization can be customized any way you’d like. There are no rules and these are only guidelines to help you make this practice your very own.

  • Sit in a comfortable position with your spine straight and body and mind relaxed.

  • Say a prayer to the Divine in whatever form you relate most to.
  • Invite any Masters, Saints, and Angels you feel connected to.
  • Visualize your heart center as a golden globe of light.
  • Imagine that any negative emotions like fear, anxiety, depression, etc. as well as any attachments you may have are strings or cords that bind the heart.
  • Mentally sever all of these attachments (good, bad, indifferent no matter the label in your mind) and release them into the Divine Healing Light.
  • Feel that your heart is being bathed, purified, and uplifted in the love and joy of God's presence.
  • See your heart chakra being buffed clean until it is fully polished, sparkling, bright, and beautiful.
  • Relax, rest, and enjoy lifting the heart's energies up to the point between the eyebrows (the spiritual eye).
  • "Rest in God, live in God, in his joy, in his love."
  • Give thanks to the Divine.

Focus on Love

Do you ever find yourself focusing on negativity? - People you dislike, things you dislike doing, places you wish you never had to go? I think everyone does this at some point.
Think for a moment about all the people you love, all the things they do that you love about them, things that make you laugh, places that make you smile, everything that you truly love to do.
Focus on these things and bring them to your awareness as often as possible... because what we focus on most is what we attract to ourselves.
